You have to ask yourself - with the population low on risk taking, they’re seen as grinders.  People who mostly just work away and make OK.

But recently these people who have a delicately balanced income stream, have gotten themselves into some debt with the easy lending.  Now compound that with the rising cost of living, petrol, raw materials etc. and a two-shove situation.  Furthermore, Scots aren’t that frugal.  Some are, some aren’t, but most don’t think too deeply about finances and with the upcoming recession, does anyone really care?  No because they don’t want to believe it.

The psyche of the scotsman is trot along and ‘believe’ the good stuff and ignore or disbelieve the bad news.  This is fairly worrying as they are almost passengers in life to a degree.

We’ll see what happens - but Scots are well known to get beaten, then beat themselves up psychologically and then give up.  Hopefully it won’t come to that.

Rangers just couldn’t do it.

Our domestic football sides are so much better than our national side, but no wonder with the imports.

Every ‘wee guy’ in Scotland wants to be a football-ah….the money, the fame, the ‘burds’.

But truth is roll and sausage mixed with Sunny Delight not going to give you the edge you need to succeed.  And the distraction of Buckfast and sengas is all too much temptation for the young aspiring soccer star.

Eventually they end the Forth road toll bridge.  No idea why, maybe it wasn’t efficient with all the staff costs etc.

Instead we join a slip road and try to get onto a streaming row of 60mph+ cars.  It’s a nightmare.  The cones were out to divert us onto the bridge, but hopefully they’ll sort something out properly.

You see them in the city centre….little boys out for the piss up…but with t-shirt only?!?!?!

Meanwhile I’m wearing 3 layers, a hat, gloves and a ski jacket.

I know alcohol numbs your senses but that’s extreme. 

It seems pretty sick what crap people in Scotland eat.  What sickens me is the women, who are educated and brain washed to be thin but still have chips every lunchtime or burgers…..aren’t these women who are influenced by the stick insects trying to stay thin?

Then they get all upset because they’re fat and demolish a pizza and 2 packets of biscuits.

Today, I was getting a kebab (OK, low fat, high sodium) when I saw this girl picking up about a metric tonne of food…double burgers, chips and pizza….all for the hair dressing salon where they are supposed to be trying to make themselves ‘beautiful’….sad but true, people in Scotland want to have their cake or chippy and eat it.

It might sound ridiculous…but the Scotland football team have done some serious damage.

In their group, they only have to beat Italy to be granted into the latest 2008 competition…..similarly the Scotland rugby team did alright as well beating France.

Seems maybe sport (with all it’s money) is re-focusing Scottish athletes…

Terrorists.  In a jeep.  Filled with gas cannisters.  They drive into the doors of Glasgow airport and set themselves alight, trying to get the jeep through the doors which doesn’t fit.

John Smeaton is infact the man who took down the terrorists.

It was on the front of the papers today, the Scottish parliment have voted against council tax.

 Just as well, but what will the new tax bring?  Hopefully it will be based on what you use but more likely what you earn.

Ach well.

2 days late according to forecasts…the sun has come out.

Blue skies and barbeques…mmmmm….let’s see for how long…last week the weather changed from cloudy to clear blue to rain in 12 hours….

Weather for May is just abismal.  Wet, cold wind (about 12C) and just fecking awful…the grey skies are sickenenly depressing. 

 Is this the route of all the alcohol and drug abuse we hear about?  Actually, I would focus more on alcohol abuse….that is an acceptable Scottish form of relaxation, drinking 12 pints or 1/2 a bottle of whisky.  Let me retract that - most people drink beer or wine (Buckfast).  Would better weather mean less of this behaviour?  I say maybe not, as when it’s a sunny day the cash register at the ‘offy’ rings continously.  And people make a point of going out at night, only to…ahem consume lots of alcohol.

Having just been in Singapore where alcohol cannot be found outside of the 7-11 or restaurant, things are much different.  No litter, no drunks, no druggies and low crime.  Everyone seems content and they spend their time shopping, eating and going to the cinema (where it costs 2 quid to see a movie).

So my point is this, maybe it’s the alcohol that’s the cause of depression in Scotland, not the weather.
